One of the most popular questions I get from clients is: when is the ideal time for a sitter session? Let me first explain what a sitter session is if you are not familiar with the term. A sitter session is when your child reaches the milestone of sitting independently, hence the name.

Every baby’s development is slightly different, but most babies sit independently between 6 to 9 months. You would ideally want to book this session when your child is about 4 to 6 months old. However, they can also be booked once baby has learned to sit, as I usually have much more flexibility on my calendar for these milestone sessions than I do for newborn photoshoots.

Your session can be very clean looking with solid backdrops, bowls, and curly layers, or we can use whimsical backdrops and play dress-up with animal and floral bonnets and one-of-a-kind exquisite outfits for your little sitters. Whatever style you choose, these milestone sessions are always fun when I get to capture your little daughter showing off all the milestones she has reached: rolling on her tummy, sitting nice and proud, or maybe even beginning to cruise.

We usually have some fun nursery rhymes playing in the studio to get your little one smiling and let them warm up while I create my magic. I can’t wait to photograph your child’s sitter session in my Baltimore-based photography studio!
